Auch fГјr interessierte Laien geeignet, obwohl McWorther – Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue: The Untold Story of English da wohl ein wenig interessanter erzГ¤hlt ist, sich aber im Inhalt nicht wirklich unterscheidet (bis auf Kleinigkeiten, an denen sich die Lehrmeinungen scheiden und die einem in einer Klausur Г„rger bereiten kГ¶nnen (Ursache fГјr den Wegfall der Endungen im Middle English)).Das auxilliary do, dass bei McWother meaningless do heiГџt wird in diesem Buch empty operator do genannt.

  • Excerpt from The Victoria History of the Counties of England, Vol. 2: Rutland For it is the first to be published after the death of Dr. Download The Victoria History of the Counties of England, Vol. 2: Rutland (Classic Reprint) William Page. In his last years, desirous above all things to secure the future of the work which he had so long directed, he transferred the whole of his interests in the History, with all the materials in his possession, to the University of London, in order that the Institute of Historical Research might from that time onwards carry on to its appointed end the task which had claimed the greater part of his time and energy for more than thirty years.

The History is his memorial. Whatever developments may be in store for it, his name will ever come first in its story, and it is fitting that this volume shall begin with a record of his life and work.

  • Why should we remember the reign of Charles V? What happened in those years that altered the course of history and helped to shape the world we live in today?Few ages have been more important to the history of Europe and America than the reign of Charles V. Charles ruled the first truly global empire, his sovereignty extending beyond Spain to the Netherlands, much of Italy, the Americas, and the Holy Roman Empire.

His life saw the waning of the Renaissance, the religious transformation of Europe by the Protestant and Catholic Reformations, and the emergence of Spain as a leading international power. At the same time, the conquests of Mexico and Peru, the establishment of a Habsburh empirein eastern Europe, and a series of wars with France, the Ottoman Empire and the German Protestants transformed European politics and the global economy.William Maltbys engaging new study not only looks at Charles V as a person, but also examines important critical issues: the emperors policies and their consequences; the institional, economic and intellectual development of his various realms; and his military and diplomatic struggles.

Concise and readable, it provides students and the general reader with an indispensable introduction to a reign that defies historical comparison, and an era that changed the world.
